The South African Police Service in Sebayeng, under the Capricorn District, is urging members of the community to come forward with information that can lead to the arrest of a 22-year-old male suspect, Tebogo Maboa, also known as "Lepai."

Maboa is wanted in connection with the murder of a 59-year-old man who was strangled to death in July 2024.

The victim was attacked and killed at his residence in Sebayeng by a group of five suspects, consisting of two males and three females. The suspects allegedly demanded a large sum of cash the victim had received following a motor vehicle accident. When the victim failed to comply, he was strangled, and the suspects fled the scene on foot.

A murder case was opened, and police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of four suspects in December 2024. The suspects, Wilson Mashao Malatji (24), Tebatso Mahakwana (23), Flora Mabitsela (39), and Kate Maboa (41), appeared in court on January 17, 2025, facing murder charges. They were remanded in police custody, and the matter was postponed until January 28, 2025, for formal bail application and further police investigations.

Maboa, the fifth suspect, remains at large and is believed to be hiding in Gauteng province, possibly in Alexandra, Edenvale, or Olivenhoutbos.

The police are urging anyone with information about Maboa's whereabouts to come forward and assist in his apprehension.
